Bye Bye, Kevin Coe!
Now on to some good news, which hopefully brought some relief to the victims of the South Hill Rapist in Spokane, Washington.
In January of this year, Kevin Coe, also known as the South Hill Rapist, had his lawyer petition to get him released from his imprisonment at McNeil Island early, as his health was deteriorating. During his well-deserved time incarcerated since 1984, he has suffered from depression (boo hoo) and a heart condition that, paired with a stroke, led to his mobility being limited.
Kevin hoped that he could live out the last of his days at a halfway home in Federal Way, but when word got out, the community fought back and demanded he be placed elsewhere. Which worked, and he went to a home in Auburn, Washington, in October.
On December 3rd, with just a few weeks of sort of freedom under his belt, Kevin Coe was found unresponsive in his room. CPR efforts were made, but 78-year-old Kevin South Hill Rapist Coe did not survive and died of natural causes. An unfairly peaceful ending to his monstrous story.

Is Gary Ridgeway Next?
In other “making the world lighter” news, it is rumoured that Gary “Green River Killer” Ridgeway is also approaching the end of his life. In early December, KIRO Newsradio in Seattle reported that 5 sources confirmed Ridgeway was still in Washington State Prison in Walla Walla, but was receiving end-of-life care. However, the Washington Department of Corrections communications director Rachel Ericson told that same station that anything regarding Ridgeway's health was “inaccurate rumors” and “Gary Ridgeway has not had any change to his medical condition.”
So…take that for what you will. A news outlet wouldn’t report something like that flippantly, especially citing 5 sources. Makes you wonder why they would lie about his condition, or if the situation is reversed, why the DOC would lie about his well-being. We’ll keep an eye out for any developments and fill you in on any upcoming updates episode.

As you probably know, we have a weekly segment with our local CBS outlet, KOIN, called True Crime Tuesday. Wanting to keep a recent case in the media, I covered the story of the shooting death of Phillip Remon.

Since True Crime Tuesday is so short, I don’t usually reach out to anyone connected to the case until I’m ready to work on an episode. On a few occasions, I’m guessing from word of mouth or google alerts, we hear from families after a segment has aired. And that was the case with Phillip Redmon’s widow, Ashley.
She asked that I share new information with you, our listeners. Her email read “My soul is in turmoil. I do have a fundraiser i started so I can pay for his cremation and bring him home with me. Also to give him a proper celebration of life that he deserves. Is there anyway you could possibly share it? I would greatly appreciate it, so much more than I can put into words. It's on FreeFunder.com.”
Here is Ashley’s description of the fundraiser-
“Hi, my name is Ashley Redmon and I’m writing this with a completely broken heart. On August 11th, my husband, Philip was murdered. I still can’t believe I’m even typing those words. He was taken from me far too soon, and my life will never be the same.
At the time this happened, I was in the Washington County Work Release Center, working hard on my recovery — trying to become a better version of myself for us, for our future. I never imagined that while I was away, I would lose the love of my life in such a horrible way. I always thought he'd be here when I came home.
Philip wasn’t perfect, but he was real and he loved me like nobody ever has. He was my best friend and my soul mate. He had a big heart and cared so deeply for the people he loved. He didn’t deserve what happened to him.
Now I’m just trying to give him the goodbye he deserves — a simple, beautiful celebration of life where the people who loved him can come together and remember the good times. I also need help covering the costs of his cremation, as I don’t have the means to do it on my own right now.
I know times are hard for everyone, but if you’re able to help — even just a little — it would mean more to me than I can ever put into words. And if you can’t donate, please share this with others or keep me and his family in your prayers.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading this, for caring, and for helping me honor the man I love.
With love and gratitude,
Ashley Redmon”
Friends. Her fundraiser is only for $4,000…and she has only raised $50. I know that right after the holidays is a tight time for many of us, but if you can give anything to Ashely’s fundraiser, please do. Let’s show her how Murder in the Rain fans can come together!
You can find the fundraiser by searching Phillip Redmon on FreeFunder.com , we’ll have the link on our blog or you can text Philip to 206-672-7222
Thank you guys- even if you just share her story, any help is appreciated.
